We’re gone.

So I asked someone who was wondering about the purposes of me wanting to write an imapd if they were normal, as they were repeatedly misinterpreting what I was saying in a way that suggested that they did not understand English at even a minimal level. June decided to give us an administrative warning. This I always see as escalative, not de-escalative. In our experience it always has been escalative when we mete them out, and has always caused us to become escalated.
Administrative warnings are the single smuggest and most passive-aggressive form of moderation I’ve ever seen anywhere. If you’re going to condemn behavior, take technological action. Crack down early and crack down hard. Umbrellix regularly bans entire /22s (IPv4) or /40s (IPv6) for behavior against its ToS on its IRC, and does so for seven weeks at a first offence. We know from bitter experience that warnings don’t work, especially when people are, for their moral frame, doing the right thing. It seems like Tilde Chat has yet to learn that. Which, I mean, props for building a community where that garbage works? It’s not going to work if Tilde ever breaks out more than it has.
